Savage Six – My Top Six Favorite Appetizers from Trader Joe’s

I recently polled my Instagram friends on what series they’d like to see on a weekly basis, and the results by far were “Savage Six.” Each week I’ll round up six of my favorite products, whether it’s groceries, beauty staples, inexpensive scarves, my favorite candles, etc. (Let me know if you have any thoughts/suggestions!) First up, some of my favorite appetizers!

Like most American consumers, I am absolutely enamored with Trader Joe’s. But to be honest, when it comes to their fresh produce, fruit, or meat, I skip it. (Sorry!) I rely on TJ’s for one primary reason…entertaining supplies. I absolutely love their frozen appetizers, cheese selection (more on that here) and their dips, crackers and accoutrements.  My intent is to make these guides short & sweet…so here it goes!

Multi-grain crackers: These are some of my favorite crackers of all time. They are super affordable and neutral enough to enjoy with hummus, a cheeseboard, dips and everything in between. I always have a box of these on-hand to for impromptu gatherings or regular snacking.

I have two mushroom flatbreads on my list, I can’t help it. This one has a super thin crust and a buttery, savory flavor profile. I like to throw some arugula on top and some olive oil and shaved parmesan to make it feel fresh and elegant.

THIS flatbread has become a freezer staple. It’s crispy, chewy and has a savory yet bright flavor profile. My fiancé really isn’t into mushrooms, but he loves this flatbread. In all honestly I keep this around for guests, but I just as often make it for an easy lunch when I’m in a pinch. I like sprinkling some red pepper flakes on top to give it a little kick.

Again, easy things to keep in the freezer you can pull out for guests or an easy app. If you happen to have a mini crockpot like I do, it fits inside perfectly. Pull out of the freezer, unwrap and pour out some pita to serve alongside it once warmed up.

I don’t even have words for these pastry puffs. They are extraordinary. I’ve had them out at both with brunch spreads and cocktail parties, they’re slightly sweet and savory and the puff is irresistible.

If you have followed any of my posts, you know that I am obsessed with Gouda. Trader Joe’s 1,000 Day Gouda is my absolute favorite. It’s crunchy and salty and pairs perfectly with the multi-grain crackers or even on its own. Do yourself a favor and keep it in your cheese drawer.
